Pediatric Movement and Musculoskeletal Concerns

Children are not small adults. Complete Rehab QC uses age-appropriate history, observation, movement assessment, parent or guardian involvement, and gentle options when appropriate.

Pediatric chiropractic care does not replace a child’s medical home, primary care, or emergency care.

How evaluation begins

Start With the Child’s Medical Home

A pediatrician or primary medical professional should evaluate illness, developmental concerns, unexplained symptoms, and significant injuries. The American Academy of Pediatrics advises medical examination before chiropractic treatment for a child with back pain. Records and medical guidance can help coordinate the next step.

What to Know Before Choosing Care

02

The Conversation Changes With Age

For infants and younger children, the visit relies heavily on caregiver observations, feeding or sleep context when relevant, and medical history. Older children and teens can describe symptoms, school, sports, backpack, training, and activity demands more directly.

03

Consent and Comfort Stay Visible

A parent or legal guardian participates in decisions. The provider should explain what will be assessed, use age- and size-appropriate positioning or techniques, monitor the child’s comfort, and stop or change course when the child or caregiver has a concern.

04

Care May Include Referral or Coordination

Depending on the concern, the appropriate path may be pediatric medical care, sports medicine, rehabilitation, a specialist, or gentle office-based care. The clinic should not delay diagnosis, vaccinations, medications, feeding support, or other care managed by the child’s licensed medical team.

Safety first

A Child’s Medical Needs Come First

Trouble breathing, blue or gray color, loss of consciousness, seizure, major injury, inability to stand or walk, confusion, severe or increasing pain, or head injury with vomiting requires prompt medical or emergency evaluation.
