Pregnancy-adapted care

Prenatal Back, Pelvic, and Movement Concerns

Pregnancy changes posture, joint laxity, core function, and load distribution throughout the body, often producing low back pain, pelvic pain, sciatica, and rib or hip discomfort that standard treatment approaches aren't built to address.

Understanding this condition

Care Built Around a Body That's Changing, Not Against It.

Postpartum brings its own set of demands — a core and pelvic floor that need to be rebuilt, new patterns of lifting and carrying, and often lingering pain from pregnancy that never fully resolved. Both phases deserve care that's specific to what the body is actually doing, not a generic program applied without adjustment.

What to Know Before Choosing Care

01

What Causes It

  • Shifting center of gravity and postural adaptation during pregnancy
  • Hormonally increased joint laxity throughout the pelvis and spine
  • Core and pelvic floor changes from pregnancy and delivery
  • New, repetitive lifting and carrying demands postpartum
  • Diastasis recti affecting core support and mechanics
02

Signs & Symptoms

  • Low back and pelvic girdle pain during pregnancy
  • Sciatica or rib and hip discomfort as the body's center of gravity shifts
  • Diastasis recti and reduced core support postpartum
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction, including leaking or heaviness
  • Pain with lifting, carrying, or feeding positions postpartum
03

How We Diagnose It

We assess your specific stage — early, mid, or late pregnancy, or a specific postpartum timeframe — along with core and pelvic floor function and current pain patterns, to build a plan matched to exactly where you are.

04

Our Treatment Approach

We modify positioning, technique, and loading throughout pregnancy to keep you moving safely, and build a structured postpartum program focused on restoring core and pelvic floor function.

  • Modifying positioning, technique, and loading throughout pregnancy to keep you moving safely
  • Structured postpartum programs focused on restoring core and pelvic floor function
  • Correcting the compensations pregnancy created
  • Progressively rebuilding strength for the physical demands of caring for a new baby
05

What to Expect

During pregnancy, care is ongoing and adjusts with each trimester. Postpartum, most patients follow a structured progression over several months as the core and pelvic floor are systematically rebuilt.

The goal in both phases is the same one we apply everywhere: match the demand to what the body can currently handle, and build the capacity to meet what comes next — because "back to normal" was never really the target. Building forward from where you are now is.

Pregnancy and postpartum are not conditions to be managed around — they're phases that deserve their own specifically built plan, and we treat them that way.
