After an accident

Working With Your Attorney

If you were hurt in an accident and are working with a personal injury attorney, your medical records become one of the most important parts of your case.

They show what was injured, how it affected your daily life, and how you recovered.

A practical guide

Good Care and Good Documentation Go Hand in Hand After an Accident.

Why Documentation Matters

Clear, consistent records support your care and give your attorney an accurate picture to work from.

What We Document

From your first visit, we record your injuries in detail and update that record as you progress.

  • Your account of how the accident happened and when your symptoms began
  • A full examination of the spine, neck, shoulders, hips, and any area of seatbelt or airbag contact
  • Neurological screening for signs of concussion or nerve involvement
  • Baseline range of motion, pain patterns, and function
  • Visit-by-visit notes on your treatment and progress
  • How your injuries affect work, sleep, and everyday activities

How We Work With Your Attorney’s Office

You don’t need an attorney to be seen, and you don’t need a referral. If you have an attorney, let us know at your first visit. We’re happy to coordinate with your attorney’s office once you’re established as a patient, if you have one.

What You Can Do

  • Tell us about every symptom, even ones that seem minor or unrelated
  • Keep your appointments, because gaps in care can slow recovery and raise questions later
  • Let us know right away if a new symptom appears or an old one gets worse
  • Keep your own notes on pain, sleep, missed work, and activities you’ve had to give up
  • Share your attorney’s contact details with our front desk
  • Follow any home program we give you between visits

What We Don’t Do

We’re your healthcare providers, not your legal team. We record your injuries honestly and accurately, and we can’t give legal advice about your case. Questions about your claim, a settlement, or deadlines belong with your attorney.

Your recovery comes first. When your care is thorough and your records are clear, both your health and your case are on solid ground.

This page is general information, not legal advice.

After an Accident, Rule Out Serious Injury First

Call 911 or go to the emergency room for severe pain, a head injury, confusion, a worsening headache, repeated vomiting, numbness or weakness, or trouble breathing. Once serious injury has been ruled out, we can evaluate the soft tissue, joint, and nerve injuries an accident often leaves behind.

Request an Injury Evaluation
